Artful Sunday spent creating Comfort Dolls

Ginger Quinn is working on a great project. This is part of a larger movement "The Price of Stones Nyaka AIDS Orphan Project ". This project is funded by Twesigye Jackson Kaguri for children orphaned by AIDs.

We all got together at Suzanne's house and created about 14 dolls (pictures will follow).

Dolls should be a maximum of 12" tall and lightweight. Mail your doll with a monetary donation (tax deductible) to

Fly the Flag

I signed up to fly the flag on a facebook group for veterans day, but I fly a flag everyday. When my oldest grandson went to pre-school and learned the pledge of allegience, he came home and wanted to practice. We had to hold up a hankie for him, and I said that I was going to go and buy this kid a flag to pledge to!
He is now 24 and I hope that he remembers pledging to the flag at Nana's house to a real flag. I still have it and put it outside yesterday for veterans day. The rest of the year it resides in my studio where I can see it everyday.

Subject: Tell Congress: Don't cave to Sarah Palin. Stand up for NPR

Dear Friend, National Public Radio recently fired Juan Williams after he appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show on FOX News and made some controversial remarks. Now, Sarah Palin and other professional right-wing demagogues are exploiting this issue as an excuse to push Congress to defund NPR, which is something conservatives have wanted for decades. Whatever you think about the Juan Williams controversy, we cannot allow the right wing to dictate public policy by throwing a fit. And we cannot allow Congress to lie down when confronted with hypocritical, fake outrage from the Right. Join me in telling Congress: Don't cave to Sarah Palin. Stand up for NPR! It's really easy to do so at the link below. http://act.credoaction.com/campaign/stand_up_for_npr/?r_by=11984-2796343-Pg_VoJx&rc=paste1

Learning to Dance in the Rain Movie

Learning to Dance in the Rain Movie: "Learning to Dance in the Rain Movie - It almost sounds too simple to feel important, but one word... gratitude, can change your attitude, and thus your life, forever. Sarah Breathnach said it best... When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present... We experience heaven on earth."

I think that this is optomistic? Sure hope so...

Pisces (2/19-3/20)
Is there a whole lotta shakin' going on? Well, that's no surprise, especially since you've seen fit to start making some big changes in your life. Initially, things might seem crazier or more unsettled, but you just have to hold on past these disruptions. All change is stressful -- even change for the better. You may be revamping old patterns or foundations that had been in place for a very long time. Stay calm and it will get better soon.

Monday again

this is a mite serious, but it struck me as the quote from www.qotd.org that I needed to post this chilly Monday morning

"A free society cherishes nonconformity. It knows that from the non-conformist, from the eccentric, have come many of the great ideas of freedom. Free society must fertilize the soil in which non-conformity and dissent and individualism can grow." Henry Commanger

Let's stop the fearmongering!

Lots of News

Beside my usual quote (www.qotd.org) my friend and I who were already in Santa Fe went to the Buffalo Thunder Casino to try out for Wheel of Fortune. There were probably a thousand people there. It was crazy, and they just draw your name out of a barrel. Hilarious, but neither of us got picked. Oh well....

here is my optomistic quote for the day:
"So far as I know, anything worth hearing is not usually uttered at seven o'clock in the morning; and if it is, it will generally be repeated at a more reasonable hour for a larger and more wakeful audience."

Grey and cool day here, no rain yet today

All one's life as a young woman one is on show, a focus of attention, people notice you. You set yourself up to be noticed and admired. And then, not expecting it, you become middle-aged and anonymous. No one notices you. You achieve a wonderful freedom. It's a positive thing. You can move about unnoticed and invisible. Doris Lessing
