I have had a petroglyph quilt bubbling in the back of my

mind for some time, and now think that I

have enough to at least get started.

Labor Day Weekend

Took off Friday and Tuesday and had a great weekend! Not sure why these pics came out so purple, but here goes:

This is relatively rare for Southern New Mexico-standing water. We had a lot of rain over the weekend, and this is what was left at the Three Rivers Petroglyph site.

All of the above pictures were taken of my son David at the petroglyph site. More petroglyphs will follow on later days.

My great niece Amber is saying goodbye to a tiny (about 1" long) Horney Toad that they found. She wanted to keep it, but was finaly convinced to let it go (did you know that horney toads eat ants and crickets?). She is tearfully saying goodbye, even though the critter was discovered again in a few minutes at another location. Horney toads used to abound in the desert around Tularosa (my sone David, and Amber's Daddy Dennis used to spend hours catching them) but pesiticides have decimated the population that finding one is pretty rare now.
