BAD BLOGGER

OK, my life as suddenly gone crazy busy! Things are going very quickly and I have two shows and a large outdoor installation that all happen in MARCH!
I have ideas for the shows, but have not actually started either of them. The outdoor installation is really getting going...
here are some pictures:
The Goddess Grove, Goddess tree in the middle and the guardians on either side
 Beginnings of Tree Crochet
Amish Holiday apron donated by Caroline
Dark apron in process from Ginger
 Suzanne's artist apron in process
Ginger's batik apron

More will follow as we progress on the installation, and I will post my pieces as they are created.

Winding down twentyeleven

I misplaced my camera (finally found it thank goodness) so I have been very word oriented (and I wrote up posts while I would be out of town). Anyway, since I have now found my camera, I am back with pictures.
This series of pictures was inspired by Spirit Cloth.
I call this piece Bubbles #1

I put a 3" square of batik fabric behind the muslin, then trimmed away all but a small margin. I turned this under to do a reverse applique.

Some finished bubbles and some unfinished.
Finished and pressed, ready for backing and a hanger.

Day Sixteen of Thirty

OK, I had a very busy day, but still managed to do some Fabric Art. There are five batik layers, and each layer is a different color and is snipped very carefully (I almost made a boo-boo on the blue layer which is the last layer and if I had cut through it, it would have all been over. ) Since I have not decided what I will do with this and this is the first time I have tried the technique, I will probably not do anything with it right now.

Happy Mother's Day Weekend

This is my fatso catso studio cat relaxing in the jungle window. She loves the sun. I could not find the other studio cat, or I would take her picture too.
On Saturday, I went to The Placitas Studio Tour. Again great art, and I bought myself a Mother's Day present.
I found these water prisms, and thought I deserved one! You can see them here

This is one of the prism reflections on my new batik fabric. I just had to have this yard of fabric and the reflection only adds to the fabric.

Saturday night another friend and I went to the opening at the Albuquerque Museum of Art. It is a "New light on Tiffany" exhibit. The stained glass, panels and light fixtures were gorgeous. If you get a chance, see the exhibit.

Sunday my son called to wish me a happy Mother's Day and gave me a gift certificate to have a massage! So my Mother's day weekend was very satisfying!

Batik Circles of Life is finished!
Since it had been some time since I had finsihed anything,
it feels good to have finsihed something for myself.
This quilt is for the daybed in my studio and
goes extremely well with the
faux paint job that I have.
It is almost full sized (custom size for the daybed)
machine pieced and all hand quilted.
